Executive Chef: Sameer Taneja
Sameer Taneja first joined the team as Head Chef from 2012 until 2015 and returned to Benares as Executive Chef in the summer of 2019 regaining a Michelin Star for the restaurant in 2021 and retaining it in 2022 and 2023.
He introduced new menus based on simple, clean and precise cooking, using impeccably sourced British ingredients in dishes that are grounded in tradition but create excitement on the plate.
His culinary style is entirely produce-led pairing Indian cuisine with classical French techniques learned from his 20 years of experience working with some of the world’s best chefs.
Sameer was instrumental in helping Benares re-gain their Michelin Star in 2019. With renewed energy and zest for culinary excellent, he continues to cook at Benares, taking the restaurant to new heights.
